The acclaimed Real Ale Trail, is a unique event that has championed Britain’s village pubs for over a decade, will make its inaugural journey to Oxfordshire on Saturday, 26th April 2025. This marks a significant milestone as the Trail, which has operated across various regions of the UK for 11 years, brings its distinctive blend of community spirit, local ale appreciation, and rural exploration to the picturesque landscapes bordering the Cotswolds.
Created in 2009 as an innovative solution to declining footfall in rural pubs, the Real Ale Trail provides transportation between handpicked village pubs, allowing visitors to enjoy these cultural treasures without concerns about driving. This simple yet revolutionary concept visits multiple countryside pubs in a single day without needing a designated driver.
“The Ale Trail is so simple: we take people to amazing village pubs they wouldn’t otherwise visit, without anyone having to worry about driving,” says Shelly Barratt Founder of the Real Ale Trail.
“In rural areas where public transport is limited or non-existent, this event creates an opportunity for everyone to enjoy these historic establishments as they were meant to be enjoyed with a proper pint in hand chatting to your buddies.
What began as a modest experiment in North Wales to get people out to the village pubs has evolved into a celebrated event that now attracts participants from across the country. Early bird tickets are now available for £26, with pickup points throughout the region, including Parkway Train Station for those traveling from further afield.
