Get yourself a seat on the Vale of Glamorgan’s only bus-based Real Ale festival. We’ll take you to some of the best and quirkiest real ale pubs in the Vale, and sample locally brewed and unique ales without worrying who’s driving!

Tickets get you unlimited bus travel during the Vale of Glamorgan Real Ale Trail on our dedicated bus service. Please note if you are starting from either of the train stations, your tickets will be available to collect from the Fontygary Inn and will need collecting the day before the event.

Tickets will be available to collect the day before the event!

You purchase tickets online and we send the tickets to the pub of your choice to pick up before or on the day of the event. You can start at any of the pubs at any time, but we advise an early start as you need to get around them all. If are starting at the Fontygary Inn, you will need to select a time for your first pick-up. The event runs from 11 am to 9 pm.

Buses pick you up at the pub, and run every 40ish minutes (we say once an hour as buses can be delayed when good-natured buddies hold the bus whilst one of their group is in the loo).

Check out our step-by-step guide here.

By purchasing tickets you are subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Please note: you will be sent a receipt when you purchase a ticket, this isn’t the ‘ticket to ride’. Your tickets will be sent to the pub you selected you’re starting from for pick up, flash the bartender your unique code on your receipt (psst receipts often get sucked into your spam folder).

See you in the beer garden!

Sorry Stags and Hens this event is not for you.

Croeso i Gymru and welcome to the VoG Real Ale Trail. Each time we run the trail it takes a different path, we like to visit new pubs and introduce you to fresh local ales so there’s always something new to experience.

The trails connect people to rural pubs and taste the local real ales made in that region.

On the trail of a good day out…we’ll raise a glass to it!

Glamorgan in South Wales is full of some of the best pubs a real ale drinker could wish for, with its own breweries and a vast array of village pubs to visit and drink in.

Sampling those pubs – and most importantly, that real ale – presents your average real ale fan with one major problem (well until now): who’s going to do the driving and which pubs to visit?

How to be safe and enjoy the trail

To keep our publicans, bus drivers, and fellow ale trailers safe and sound. We would like you to consider the following guidelines for this event:

  • Always drink responsibly don’t feel you have to drink alcohol at every pub.
  • There are no toilets on the bus.
  • Most all enjoy the time with your friends in these great locations.
  • The event is not suitable for those under the age of 24.
  • Hens and Stags, sorry this is not the event for you.

The Real Ale Trail returns to the Vale of Glamorgan and follows the same principles as all the other trails. Start where you like, when you like, but make sure you do it with great friends. Please note some pubs are subject to change.

The Real Ale Trail allows drinkers to sample up to 10 fantastic pubs and one microbrewery in one day without worrying about who’s going to ferry them between hostelries.

Beers aside, the Trail gives drinkers the opportunity to sample some of the fantastic scenery with friends and visit wonderful villages you’ve probably not been to in years. The Vale has much to offer an ale lover.
