Ale Trails dedicated buses will pick you up and drop you off at selected boozers in Oxfordshire known for their ale and hospitality. We are heading to villages such as Begbroke, Woodstock, Stonesfield, Kidlington, Witney, Yarnton and we also pick up at Oxford Parkway Station.
Catching the Bus: To get the bus you purchase tickets online (not on the bus). Tickets give you all-day travel. You can start at any of the pubs at any time, but we advise an early start if you want to visit them all. The event runs from 11am to 9pm and buses will pick you up outside the pub, and run every 45ish minutes.
We send your tickets to the pub of your choice to pick up before or on the day of the event. You can start at any of the pubs at any time, but we advise an early start if you want to visit them all. If you are starting from a ‘pick up’ point your tickets get sent to the next pub on route.
If you don’t want to visit a pub because you stayed too long at a rather nice beer garden you simply stay on the bus. You visit the pubs you want. Timetables and live updates are on our Facebook or Twitter page.
Check out our step-by-step guide here.
Please note: you are sent a receipt when purchasing the tickets. Your actual tickets get sent to the pub you selected as your starting point. Flash the bartender your unique code on your receipt (psst receipts often get sent to spam) and they will hand you the ticket.
See you in the beer garden!

On the trail of a good day out…we’ll raise a glass to it!
Oxforshire is full of some of the best pubs a real ale drinker could wish for, with its own breweries and a vast array of village pubs to visit and drink in.
Sampling those pubs – and most importantly, that real ale – presents your average real ale fan with one major problem (well until now): who’s going to do the driving and which pubs to visit?
Oxfordshire Trail Runs Twice a Year April and September!
Each time we run the trail it takes a different path, we like to visit new pubs and introduce you to fresh local ales so there’s always something new to experience.
The trails connect people to rural pubs and taste the local real ales made in that region.

Why Do We Do It?
Because we’re passionate about village pubs, and when people stopped drinking and driving (yes we know how that sounds), they started closing one by one.
So we decided to help. Leave the car at home folks, we know the best pubs, we know logistics and we know people. And boom here we are 12 years later, still eager as a kid on Christmas morning, ready to take you to bloody brilliant boozers. And while big brewery houses monopolise our beer choice, we champion the small brewers and try for a brewery visit too. We need to see who makes our beer and thank them for it, right?

PUBS ON THE ALE TRAIL
The Real Ale Trail follows the same principles as all the other trails. Start where you like, when you like, but make sure you do it with great friends. Please note some pubs are subject to change.
The Real Ale Trail allows drinkers to sample up to 10 fantastic pubs and one microbrewery in one day without worrying about who’s going to ferry them between hostelries.
Beers aside, the Trail gives drinkers the opportunity to sample some of the fantastic scenery with friends and visit wonderful villages you’ve probably not been to in years. The Vale has much to offer an ale lover.
